KATHMANDU: Employees of Nepal have been urged to join the government-sponsored Social Security Fund program by the Nepali Embassy in Kuwait. The pitch was made during an engagement campaign focused on financial literacy and safe remittance practices.
The initiative, called "Financial Awareness and Safe Remittance Flow," sought to teach Nepali workers about the benefits of joining the Social Security Fund, appropriate remittance techniques, and financial literacy. The embassy aimed to raise awareness of these issues in order to motivate participation.
Ambassador Ghanashyam Lamsal underlined the need to provide workers with financial literacy and the necessity of presenting social security services in an understandable and approachable manner. He emphasized that increasing awareness is crucial to encouraging involvement and improving the financial stability of employees.
The discussion also included topics such as current remittance trends, safe ways to send money back to Nepal, and strategies for improving the efficiency and reach of the Social Security Fund. These topics were aimed at empowering workers to make informed financial decisions.
Participants expressed their appreciation to the embassy for organizing the event, which they said addressed critical issues affecting Nepali workers abroad. The discussions were viewed as a step forward in improving worker welfare and financial awareness.
The program brought together Nepali professionals from Kuwait’s financial sector and embassy representatives. This collaborative effort demonstrated a shared commitment to improving financial literacy and encouraging participation in social security initiatives among the Nepali diaspora.
