KATHMANDU: The Rashtriya Swantatra Party (RSP) has decided not to immediately withdraw from the coalition government following discussions with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’. Ashok Kumar Chaudhary, an MP and central committee member of RSP, indicated a low likelihood of the party exiting the coalition. This decision follows a two-hour meeting where the RSP deliberated its participation in a government led by the CPN (Maoist Center), amidst the recent departure of the UML from the coalition on Wednesday.
The RSP's decision to remain in the current coalition government was affirmed after talks with PM Prachanda, which included the presence of four RSP ministers, including the Home Minister. While there was internal debate within the RSP about joining a Maoist-led coalition, the party ultimately opted to maintain its stance within the existing political framework.
