KATHMANDU: Due to a throat issue, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is now recuperating at his official house in Baluwatar, doctors have reported. Following a CPN-UML secretariat meeting on Tuesday, he attended a late-night gathering that led to the development of his condition.
Medical experts reportedly told Oli to relax after he developed a raspy voice. He took a day off on Wednesday, but his health did not improve, so all of his formal commitments for Thursday were canceled.
Oli was supposed to take part in the Siddhababa Tunnel Road Breakthrough event on the Butwal-Palpa road segment, which was one of the programs that was canceled. Additionally, he was not present at the Armed Police Force's (APF) 24th anniversary ceremony on Wednesday.
In Oli’s absence, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak was called to Kathmandu to serve as the chief guest at the APF anniversary event, stepping in to fulfill the Prime Minister’s duties at the ceremony.
According to people close to Baluwatar, Oli started feeling uneasy on Tuesday night after going to a party after a crucial UML meeting. According to reports, the meeting covered intentions to carry on working with former vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam.
It is unclear when Oli will return to his formal duties because the Prime Minister's office has not given a specific timeframe for his recuperation.
As he concentrates on his recuperation, Oli is now still under medical care, and other government representatives attend to urgent matters in his place.
