President Paudel honors Palesha Govardan for historic Paralympic bronze medal

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel honored Nepali Taekwondo player Palesha Govardan and her coach, Kabiraj Negi Lama, at a ceremony held at the President's Office, Shitalniwas. Palesha recently made history by winning a bronze medal in Taekwondo at the Paris Paralympics. During the program, President Paudel, along with First Lady Sabita Paudel, garlanded Palesha and her team to celebrate their achievement.


President Paudel congratulated Palesha on her achievement and said it has greatly elevated Nepal in his speech. He hoped she would keep up her good work and pursue a gold medal in upcoming events. Palesha's parents, Teju Lal Chaudhari, Minister for Youth and Sports, and representatives from the sports association were present at the ceremony.


With Palesha's historic bronze in the 57 kg women's Taekwondo K-44 division at the Paris Paralympics, a significant turning point has been attained for Nepali sports. Her accomplishment as the first Nepali athlete to earn an Olympic bronze medal in the Paralympics exemplifies her exceptional performance on a global scale.
