Gandaki Province cracks down on traffic violations with over 19,000 vehicles penalized

KATHMANDU: For violating traffic laws in the first month of the current fiscal year, 19,113 cars were the target of action by Gandaki Province authorities. The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office in Pokhara was in charge of this enforcement, which included all 11 districts in the province. A substantial amount of money was collected during this time through fines.


With 7,313 vehicles and a fine income of Rs 5,498,500, Kaski district reported the largest number of breaches." Next, with 2,887 vehicles yielding Rs 2,241,500, was Nawalparasi; with 3,444 vehicles yielding Rs 2,697,500, was Tanahun. Notable profits of Rs 907,000 and Rs 983,500 from their respective numbers of infractions were also realized by Syangja and Baglung.


In addition, the districts of Parbat (Rs 575,000 from 611 cars), Myadi (Rs 425,500 from 574 vehicles), and Gorkha (Rs 928,500 from 972 vehicles) all contributed to the earnings. With fewer cars, Mustang and Manang took in Rs 71,500 and Rs 22,000, respectively. 


The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office carried out 3,257 traffic awareness programs around the province in addition to the enforcement operations. 56,253 women and 98,881 men have participated in these initiatives, which have reached 155,134 individuals with the goal of lowering traffic accidents and enhancing management.
