KATHMANDU: The inquiry into Nirmala Panta's murder will be carried out completely and with the utmost seriousness, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak promised. Lekhak stressed during a press conference in Mahendranagar that the case of the 13-year-old girl from Bhimdatta Municipality-2, Kanchanpur, who was sexually assaulted and killed on July 26, 2018, is being handled with the utmost seriousness.

In addition to addressing the murder case, Lekhak outlined plans to enhance infrastructure in the region. He announced that Dodhara Chandani will be developed into the country’s largest checkpoint, and efforts are underway to transform Kanchanpur into a tri-national border area. An immigration office is set to be established at Tinkar in Darchula, connecting with China.

Lekhak added that India is prepared to build the dry port at Dodhara Chandani, and that bids should be invited in the next two months. He inspected the districts damaged by the floods and dedicated two new police buildings in Kanchanpur while in his hometown.
