A seven-point agreement between the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress (NC) aimed at creating a new administration was presented by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a parliamentary session on Sunday. The following are the main terms of the agreement that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and PM Oli signed:
- National Consensus Government: A government will be formed under Article 76(2) of the Constitution, incorporating other political parties to ensure political stability, combat corruption, promote good governance, and drive national development.
- Constitutional Review and Amendments: The new administration will evaluate the effectiveness of the Constitution, make any necessary corrections, and enact the necessary modifications in order to enhance political stability.
- Economic Revival: Fostering a business-friendly atmosphere, encouraging investment, and producing jobs within Nepal will be the main goals of this initiative.
- Transition of Leadership: Sher Bahadur Deuba will lead the administration until the December 2027 general elections, with KP Sharma Oli serving as leader for the first two years.
- Governance Framework: To safeguard the interests of the country, fight corruption, and maintain efficient governance, the government will work under a common program.
- Equal Participation: Major political parties will have equal roles in the government, with the inclusion of other parties as well.
- Provincial and Local Development: There will be a push for accelerated development at the provincial and local levels, reflecting public sentiment and the terms of the agreement.
