KATHMANDU: Petroleum exploration efforts in Bhairabi rural municipality have reached a depth of 218 meters, according to Prakash Luintel, the Information Officer of the Petroleum Exploration Project under the Department of Mines and Geology. The ongoing drilling operations are slated to delve further to a depth of 4,500 meters. A dedicated team comprising numerous workers and engineers is engaged in the drilling process, operating in shifts and around the clock. The ambitious goal is to complete the drilling project within the next four months.
The exploration initiative was initiated with a grant of Rs 2.50 billion from the government of China, pursuant to an agreement signed six years ago. This substantial financial support has enabled the commencement and continuation of the petroleum exploration endeavor. With significant resources and manpower allocated to the project, there is optimism surrounding the potential outcomes of the exploration efforts in Bhairabi rural municipality.
