KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Forests and Environment, in association with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, held the "2024 Seminar for Cooperation on Climate Change" in Kathmandu on Thursday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Nepal. Both countries have seen economic and demographic development as a result of their long-standing relationship, which was acknowledged during the conference along with a focus on mutual respect and shared goals.
Aain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, Minister for Forests and Environment, stressed the importance of the 50-year connection between South Korea and the United States while applauding the country's international efforts to combat climate change. Park Taeyoung, the Korean ambassador, emphasized the significance of including climate change adaptation into the formulation and execution of policies. He emphasized Korea's dedication to bolstering regional and global endeavors aimed at curbing emissions and augmenting sustainable energy efficiency.
In order to address the issues vulnerable communities experience as a result of climate change, Ambassador Park also emphasized the importance of inclusive policies and community empowerment. He stated that the seminar would enhance bilateral collaboration on environmental and climate-related matters, while strengthening Korea's backing for Nepal's endeavors to combat climate change.
The national climate change policies of Nepal and the significance of bilateral relations in coordinating environmental protection efforts were the topics of discussion at the conference. High-ranking government officials, distinguished guests from Korea Eximbank, and top GGGI representatives were present, and they all contributed to the conversation on collaborative efforts to combat climate change.
