Dengue control in Koshi Province faces challenges amid rising cases

KATHMANDU: In Koshi Province, dengue fever has emerged as a significant health challenge, with 582 cases reported over the past four months. This issue was highlighted during a dengue control program organized by the Province Health Ministry, which was attended by local government officials and stakeholders.


From July 16 to August 13, a total of 334 dengue infections were recorded in the province, and there has been one fatality. The outbreak has been particularly severe in Morang, where 199 cases have been reported, and Letang municipality alone has seen 310 infections. Other affected areas include Jhapa, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, and Tehrathum, with varying numbers of reported cases.


The Director of the Dhankuta-based Health Directorate provided a breakdown of the infection rates across the province, emphasizing the widespread impact and the need for enhanced control measures.
