KATHMANDU: Dengue fever has been reported in nearly 17,000 cases, and eight deaths have been connected to the illness nationally. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) reports that dengue has spread to all districts of the country with the exception of Humla.
The EDCD's chief of the Vector Borne Disease Control Section, Dr. Gokarna Dahal, reported that Kaski district now has 2,709 dengue cases, the most of any district. Kaski is followed by Tanahun and Kathmandu, with 1,954 and 2,567 confirmed cases, respectively.
Dengue is still spreading, which highlights the importance of public education and preventative actions, especially in the areas most afflicted. Health authorities continue to monitor the situation and manage the rising number of patients to limit the impact of the outbreak.
