KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has released a circular with the goal of ensuring that nurses and other medical personnel are fairly compensated and receive benefits. All government hospitals, medical colleges, and community or private hospitals are subject to the policy, which was issued in response to concerns about inadequate nursing facilities, said Dr. Raj Kumar Pandey, head of the Ministry's Quality Measurement and Policy Division.

In addition to directing hospitals to provide extra compensation for working outside of usual business hours, the circular highlights the significance of providing nursing personnel with minimum service amenities. Dr. Pandey clarified that several complaints regarding the subpar benefits and working circumstances experienced by nursing staff in different healthcare facilities prompted this action.

Hospitals have also been directed by the Ministry to formalize employment agreements by hiring human resources under contract rather than on a pay basis. To further guarantee that these crucial documents stay with the staff, it has been illegal for hospital offices to keep the original educational credentials of its employees.

The circular's demand that hospitals provide experience certificates to employees upon completion of work is another important clause that guarantees accurate documentation of their job histories. Additionally, this will enable nursing and other healthcare professionals to have their experience formally acknowledged.

The Ministry's mandate that nursing personnel and other health professionals get their salary through the banking system further encourages transparency and accountability in wage payments. This step should simplify payment processes and prevent delays or irregularities.

Dr. Pandey emphasized that the goal of these new regulations is to guarantee improved working conditions, equitable pay, and proper recognition for the contributions that nurses and other health professionals make to the healthcare sector.
