KATHMANDU: A pregnant woman, age 22, underwent a difficult cardiac operation at the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center (MCVTC). The patient, who was 35 weeks pregnant, was in grave condition and her heart's main vein was about to burst when she arrived at the hospital. Because of the advanced stage of pregnancy and the type of cardiac problem, the procedure was considered high-risk.

Dr. Anil Bhattarai, senior cardiologist at MCVTC, oversaw the operation. The difficult and involved procedure of heart surgery had to wait until the fetus was delivered. Collaboration between gynecologists and cardiologists is necessary for the success of this treatment.

Four days have passed since the surgery, and the patient has been admitted to the ward. Despite the significant dangers, her condition is said to be stable, indicating a satisfactory outcome. The mother's and the child's lives could have been in danger, therefore prompt intervention was essential.

Overall, the case underscores the intricate nature of handling heart conditions during pregnancy and highlights the expertise required to manage such high-risk surgeries. The swift and effective medical response was key to ensuring a positive result for both the mother and her newborn.
