Two arrested after detonating IED at Mahendra Multiple Campus in Ghorahi

KATHMANDU: Two individuals have been arrested after they detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), also known as a Sutali Bomb, at Mahendra Multiple Campus in Ghorahi this morning. According to Deputy Superintendent Ram Prasad Timilsina from the District Police Office, the suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee the scene on a motorcycle shortly after the explosion occurred.


The IED exploded with a loud noise, and the suspects, identified as Abhiyan Thapa from Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-15 and Sudan Karki, a student at the Campus, claimed they ignited the device as a prank. The police have detained them and are continuing their investigation into the incident.


DSP Timilsina reported that Thapa was responsible for throwing the IED onto the road in front of the campus. The authorities are still looking into the matter to determine the full circumstances and motivations behind the incident.
