Six people, including the shooter, were killed in a mass shooting in Bangkok's Chatuchak district's well-known Or Tor Kor Market on Monday.

The attacker, a 61-year-old former security guard, reportedly opened fire around midday, targeting four security personnel and a female vendor before turning the gun on himself. All six victims, including the shooter, died at the scene or later at the hospital, according to Thai police and medical officials.

Witnesses said the crowded marketplace was thrown into panic as shoppers and vendors ran for cover. Emergency responders quickly arrived, and police cordoned off the area.

Authorities are looking into the motive for the attack. Early reports indicate that the gunman might have had a personal conflict with the victims since he had previously worked with the security guards he shot.

The victims' names have not yet been made public by the police. Public safety in congested urban settings has come under scrutiny as a result of the occurrence.

Further details are expected as the investigation continues.
