KATHMANDU: Two guys were detained for defrauding others by making false promises of high-paying jobs overseas. They promised high-paying international jobs to entice victims, but after they got the money, they vanished.
Two individuals were arrested for fraud: Bishal Shrestha, 37, of Basantapur, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-23, and Lil Bahadur Rai, 54, of Triyuga Rural Municipality-11, Udayapur, who is currently living in Mahalaxmi Municipality-5, Lalitpur.
Rai allegedly tricked two people out of Rs 200,000 by promising to bring them to Malaysia, according to Nepal Police. In a similar vein, Shrestha promised to get another victim a job in Croatia in exchange for Rs 150,000.
Both suspects stopped communicating with the victims as soon as they received the money. When the victims realized they had been duped, they informed the authorities, which led to an investigation.
Rai from Battisputali and Shrestha from Teku, Kathmandu, were taken into custody by police on Monday in response to the complaints. Neither objected to being brought into custody.
The Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, has now received the two suspects and is conducting additional investigations and legal actions.
