KATHMANDU: Singer Ravi Oad has turned himself in to police custody in Jhalari, Krishnapur Municipality of Kanchanpur, in connection with a case involving marital rape. Deputy Superintendent of Police Umesh Joshi confirmed that Oad surrendered to authorities at the District Police Office. Following his surrender, the district court ordered Oad to be held in judicial custody for five days to facilitate further investigation into the case.
The allegations of marital rape were lodged against Oad by his wife on April 2, prompting the initiation of legal proceedings. Subsequently, the police obtained an arrest warrant against Oad with the approval of the district court. However, Oad was not immediately apprehended as he was reportedly abroad, participating in a music event at the time.
With Oad now in police custody, the investigation into the allegations against him will proceed accordingly. The judicial custody period will allow authorities to gather evidence and conduct inquiries into the accusations leveled against the singer.
