4 arrested for drug smuggling at Lalitpur hotel

KATHMANDU: Four individuals have been arrested for smuggling illegal drugs from a hotel in Lalitpur. The suspects, Sabina Maharjhan and Samit Rajbansi, both 29 and residents of Sanagaun, Mahalaxmi Municipality-6, along with Amal Pokhrel, 29, of Mahalaxmi-9, and Padam Lama, 35, of Godawari Municipality-5, were detained at Chiyachu Cafe Tabaa in Timalsina Chowk, Mahalaxmi-1, at around 5:30 PM on Sunday.


Maharjhan and Rajbansi are identified as the owners of the hotel from which the drugs were seized. The arrest followed information provided by an individual previously detained for drug consumption. The police recovered 70 tablets of tramadol and a khukuri during the operation.


The District Police Range, Lalitpur, conducted the raid based on the intelligence gathered and arrested the suspects, who are now under investigation. Nareshraj Subedi, Superintendent of Police (SP) and spokesperson for the District Police Range, confirmed the recovery of the drugs and the weapon.
