KATHMANDU: This year, farmers in the Baglung district's Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6 have produced an impressive amount of oranges, earning a total of Rs 54 million. Agricultural Technician Agni Kandel of the municipality said that this represents a 20 million rupee increase over the production of the previous year, which was valued at 35 million rupees.

On 30 hectares of land, the farmers in the rural municipality's Ward No. 6 grew oranges, producing close to 900 metric tonnes this year. Given that there have been no reports of diseases damaging the orange plants, Kandel said that the higher yield can be ascribed to favorable conditions.

Kandel also highlighted how the rural municipality's technical assistance played a part in the higher output. To further increase agricultural output, the municipality is aggressively seeking to develop orange growing in the region.

Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6 farmer Loknath Kandel emphasized the increasing tendency of orange production in his community. He emphasized that obtaining higher yields requires efficient garden management.

Local farmers have expressed satisfaction with the orange market. They claimed that because customers often visit the farms to purchase the fruits directly from the plants, there is a steady demand for their produce.

The orange farming sector in Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6 is growing strongly, which is encouraging for regional agriculture. Because of increased output and market demand, the region is well-positioned to continue growing citrus in the years to come.
