KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Finance has approved a proposal allowing the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development to seek a loan investment of Rs 600 million from the Council of Ministers for the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC), provided certain conditions are met. This loan is intended to address the DDC's urgent need to settle outstanding payments to farmers for their milk.
Currently, the budget allocation for the DDC under this loan investment is Rs 10 million for the fiscal year. The proposal will be finalized and implemented as a loan once it receives Cabinet approval.
The decision is made in response to farmers' ongoing requests for timely payment for the milk they deliver. Principal players in the matter have engaged in active discourse, including Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari, DDC officials, and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel.
