KATHMANDU: A landslide in the Kalche area of Lalitpur district has led to the disruption of vehicular movement along the Kanti Highway. Rabindra Maharjan, the engineer of the Kanti Highway Widening Project, reported that maintenance work was underway when a rockfall occurred, causing a section of the road to cave in.
As a result of the incident, the road section has been closed until further notice. The damage caused by the falling rock has rendered the net and Gabion wall, constructed along the narrow segment of the road approximately one kilometer from Kalche towards Baguwa, unusable. Maharjan stated that vehicles cannot traverse this segment of the road until repairs are completed and the road is deemed safe for travel.
The closure of the affected road segment will remain in place until further notice is issued, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of travelers along the Kanti Highway.
