KATHMANDU: On Monday morning, a Winger vehicle accident in Dang district claimed two lives and injured twelve others. The event happened along the East-West Highway close to Chau Khola in Lamahi Municipality-9. When it lost control and crashed the car, registered Lu1 Ja 4298, was on its way from Chandrauta, Kapilvastu, to Bardiya.
The victims, identified as Prithi Tharu, 42, and Fulasi Tharu, 60, were confirmed to be inhabitants of Shivaraj Municipality-3 by the Dang District Police Office. The disaster claimed the lives of both people, and Lamahi Hospital is currently treating the injured passengers.
Ishwar Thapa, the deputy superintendent of police and spokesperson for the District Police Office, stated that 14 persons were on board the truck at the time of the collision. He suggested that the crash may have been caused in part by the vehicle's fast speed.
The tragedy has brought attention to the region's public transit safety and the need for stricter traffic law enforcement. Authorities are currently investigating the exact reason for the collision.
