KATHMANDU: A person who went missing when a passenger bus plunged into the Marsyangdi River last Friday has still not been found after five days. The bus, with Indian registration plate UP 53 FT 7623, was traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu when it fell into the river at Ainapahara in Aanbukhaureni Rural Municipality-2, Tanahu District.
Search operations are still on, but Gokarni Sandup Sarode, the missing person, has not been found. Twenty-seven persons lost their lives and sixteen more were injured in the disaster. Monday saw the bus pulled out of the river, but Sarode was nowhere to be seen, raising the possibility that he was still inside the wrecked bus.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Raya stated that Sarode’s condition remains unknown as the search continues. The situation is further compounded by the fact that Sarode's parents were also victims of the same accident. The police are continuing their search at likely locations to find Sarode.
