KATHMANDU: The Mugling-Anbu Khaireni road section has been closed from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM today for the retrieval of an Indian-registered bus that fell into the Marsyangdi River. The closure is necessary to allow the use of large machinery to recover the bus, which was involved in a fatal accident on August 23.
The bus, carrying Indian tourists from Pokhara to Kathmandu, crashed into the Marsyangdi River in Aaina Pahara, Anbu Khaireni Rural Municipality, resulting in 27 deaths and 16 injuries. The bodies of the deceased have been recovered and returned to India, but the bus itself had not yet been retrieved.
The District Administration Office of Tanahun has announced the road closure to facilitate the recovery operation. The closure is aimed at ensuring the safe and efficient retrieval of the bus, which remains crucial for concluding the aftermath of the tragic accident.
