2 missing after being swept away by Ganyad river in Darchula

KATHMANDU: Two individuals, a 25-year-old woman named Jhupa Tamata and her six-year-old nephew Ain BK, have been reported missing since last night after being swept away by the Ganyad river in Marma rural municipality-5.

According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred when Tamata and BK attempted to cross the river, which had swollen due to heavy rains.

Surendra Mahata, the ward chair of Marma rural municipality-5, confirmed the relationship between the missing persons, stating that Tamata and BK are aunt and nephew, respectively.

In response to the incident, a police squad from the Area Police Office in Latinath has been deployed to conduct a search and rescue operation for the missing individuals.
