KATHMANDU: A landslide that occurred between Ghar and Chitre in Annapurna Rural Municipality-5 has blocked the Ghodepani route in Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 for the past month. Both residents and visitors have been severely impacted by this disturbance, which has complicated matters for hotel owners in the well-liked tourist location and affected the availability of everyday necessities. Ten meters of damaged road have caused traffic stops and concerns, especially as the peak travel season draws near.

Ghodepani, renowned for its stunning mountain views, lush Guranse forest, and sunrise at Punhil, attracts over 30,000 foreign tourists annually, along with a substantial number of domestic visitors. The roadblock has caused considerable inconvenience, affecting the local economy and tourism-related activities. Hotel entrepreneur Tara Pun expressed concern over the timing of the road disruption and its potential impact on the upcoming tourist season.

In response, Chairman Ram Bahadur Khadka of Annapurna Rural Municipality-6 reported that efforts are underway to upgrade an alternative route via Khiwang to Peribharani. This measure aims to restore access to Ghodepani and alleviate the ongoing transportation issues caused by the landslide.
