KATHMANDU: The government has announced plans to suspend night bus operations in districts and areas where there are warnings of natural disasters. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane made this announcement during today's House of Representatives meeting. He emphasized that night driving will be halted specifically in regions under a red travel advisory issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Lamichhane clarified that this decision aims to mitigate risks associated with natural disasters like landslides and flooding. He assured that the transport management department and traffic police will coordinate to enforce these restrictions effectively. Additionally, warning signs will be placed by the Department of Road and traffic police in areas prone to such hazards.
This initiative reflects the government's proactive approach to enhancing public safety during periods of heightened natural disaster risks.
