KATHMANDU: On Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) registered a modest increase, with the benchmark index rising by 5.63 points or 0.28% to reach 1,966.23 points by the close of the trading day. Alongside the benchmark index, the sensitive index, which evaluates 'A' class stocks, also saw a rise of 0.34%, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, climbed by 0.30%.
Among the various sectors, the Hotel and Tourism sector stood out with a significant surge of 6.96%, marking the only sector to surpass a 1% gain. However, not all sectors fared as well, with the Microfinance, Life Insurance, and Manufacturing and Processing sectors recording losses of 0.90%, 0.44%, and 0.12% respectively.
The market activity was notable, with a daily turnover reaching Rs 3.1 billion. This was driven by the exchange of 7,058,399 units of shares from 313 companies in 49,332 transactions. The trading day witnessed robust participation from investors across various companies and sectors, contributing to the overall turnover and trading volume on the exchange.
