KATHMANDU: In a rare incident, a domestic buffalo in Manahari, Makawanpur, killed a tiger that had ventured out of Chitwan National Park (CNP). The buffalo, owned by Bal Bahadur Rai of Manahari rural municipality-6, Pratappur, was attacked by the tiger but managed to retaliate, resulting in the tiger's death. The buffalo sustained injuries during the encounter.
CNP's Information Officer, Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, confirmed the incident, noting that this is the first such occurrence in the park and its buffer zone. The tiger, described as old and thin, may have left the park in search of food, possibly due to difficulties hunting within its natural habitat.
To look into the incident's circumstances more thoroughly, the tiger's body has been brought to the National Park for a post-mortem study.
