KATHMANDU: Due to a landslide near Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29 on Friday morning, two buses fell into the Trishuli River. The whereabouts of the vehicles has not been found by authorities. The locations of the buses and their occupants are still unknown despite intensive search efforts. Although teams from the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force, as well as divers and security officials, have been dispatched, their efforts have been severely impeded by high river currents.

Since the first attempts at the search and rescue have not been successful, the authorities are presently looking for fresh strategies. The operation at the incident location involves about 200 security officers. The busses in question were the Ganapati Deluxe, which carried 41 people from Kathmandu to Gaur in Rautahat, and the second bus, which carried 24 people from Birgunj to Kathmandu. The landslide carried both buses into the Trishuli River.

The search operation continues under challenging conditions, with authorities exploring alternative strategies to locate the missing buses and passengers. The ongoing efforts reflect the critical need for innovative approaches in overcoming the natural obstacles posed by the river’s strong currents.
