Bus accident injures 18 in Morang along Koshi Highway

KATHMANDU: An accident involving a bus occurred in Budhiganga Rural Municipality, Morang, along the Koshi Highway on Tuesday, leaving at least 18 individuals injured. The bus, bearing registration number Ba 4 Kha 7450, was en route from Siraha to Biratnagar when the incident transpired at Budhiganga Rural Municipality -3, as reported by the District Police Office, Morang.

Suman Neupane, a police inspector at the District Police Office, Morang, explained that the accident was caused by the sudden appearance of a motorcycle (registration number Ko 18 Pa 529) in front of the bus, which was carrying passengers from Siraha to Biratnagar. Consequently, the bus overturned, resulting in injuries to multiple passengers.

Following the accident, law enforcement promptly intervened by transporting the injured individuals to the hospital for medical attention. As per Police Inspector Neupane, a total of 18 people sustained injuries in the accident, and they are currently receiving treatment at Birat Teaching Hospital.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway, as stated by the police. Authorities are working to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident and determine any factors contributing to its occurrence.
