Nepal government moves to remove five-year statute of limitations on corruption investigations

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to eliminate the five-year statute of limitations on corruption investigations from the bill amending the Corruption Control Act, 2059 BS. This decision was reached during a Friday meeting of the State Management Committee under the House of Representatives. 


Ram Hari Kathiwada, Chair of the Committee, confirmed that the proposal to remove the statute of limitations was unanimously approved. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak supported this decision, indicating the government's readiness to remove the five-year limitation from the bill.


Leaders of the ruling and opposition parties have both pushed for the reform, which comes after strong political and public criticism.
