KATHMANDU: A mild earthquake struck the Pabhra area of Manang district this morning, registering a magnitude of 3.8. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, the tremor occurred at 8:22 AM and was felt in Manang and nearby regions. No reports of significant damage or casualties have surfaced, but repeated tremors have left residents anxious.

The earthquake in Manang came shortly after strong tremors were felt in India’s capital, New Delhi, and Siwan in Bihar. Indian media reported that a 4.0-magnitude quake shook Siwan at 8:02 AM, with its epicenter at 25.93°N latitude and 84.42°E longitude at a depth of 10 km.

An earthquake of a magnitude of 4.0 struck Delhi-NCR earlier in the day at 5:36 AM. The vibrations caused several residents to flee their homes in fear. The shaking was mainly noticeable in high-rise buildings in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Indirapuram, and Ghaziabad.

Indian officials reported that the shocks did not cause any substantial damage or casualties. However, officials are closely monitoring the situation in case aftershocks occur.

While in the aftermath of the tremors, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the people to remain calm and follow the safety protocols. He tweeted that the government is actively assessing the situation and putting up the safety measures required.

Though powerful, the tremors did not cause any significant damage or serious casualties in Delhi or Bihar. Authorities continue to observe the situation for any ensuing quake activity and assess the consequences.

Authorities are reiterating the need for vigilance and preparedness among the people in the wake of such earthquake tremors, underlining the relevance of emergency protocols in the event of aftershocks.
