KATHMANDU: The Madhesh Province Assembly will meet on Friday at 11 AM with the purpose of ratifying the budget for the fiscal year 2024–2025. After multiple disagreement-driven delays, especially with the Red Book, where a number of lawmakers believed their concerns were not sufficiently addressed, this decision was made.
On June 7, Janamat Party member Satish Kumar Singh assumed the role of chief minister of the province with support from a coalition including CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Nagarik Unmukti Party. In less than seven days following his appointment, the projected budget for the upcoming fiscal year was made public.
In addition to steering the budget through approval, CM Singh is also preparing to seek a vote of confidence during tomorrow's assembly meeting. However, recent shifts in federal-level politics have introduced uncertainties, with parties yet to finalize their voting strategies amid the evolving political landscape.
