Hupsekot Rural Municipality deposits Rs 5,000 in bank accounts of 256 daughters

KATHMANDU: Hupsekot Rural Municipality in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) has opened bank accounts with a deposit of Rs 5,000 for 256 daughters as part of its ‘Golden Future of Our Daughters’ program. The initiative, launched in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS, aims to financially support girls born in the municipality by depositing money into their bank accounts.


To date, 38 girls have contributed in the first year, 59 in the second, 97 in the third, and 62 in the current fiscal year, totaling Rs 1.28 million put throughout these accounts. Each account receives a Rs 5,000 deposit from the municipality and an extra Rs 5,000 from the parents. These accounts are kept safe by the guardians.


Chair of the rural municipality, Laxmi Devi Pandey, emphasized that the program is intended to support the higher education of the daughters and encourage a habit of saving. The initiative is designed to ensure a better future for the girls, helping them secure funds for their education and personal development.
