KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Rabi Lamichhane, has introduced a progressive policy aimed at providing support to female traffic police personnel. As part of this initiative, female officers will be granted four days of leave during their menstrual period. This decision, announced on Republic Day, reflects a commitment to addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by women in the workforce.

In his written statement, Lamichhane emphasized the importance of this policy as a means of supporting the well-being of female traffic police personnel. By allowing them to take leave during menstruation, the government aims to promote gender equity and ensure that female officers can manage their health effectively while fulfilling their duties.

Moreover, in a demonstration of solidarity and responsibility, individuals who violate traffic regulations, including drunk driving, will be encouraged to volunteer and assist traffic police during this period. This collaborative approach underscores the importance of community engagement and shared responsibility in ensuring road safety and effective traffic management.
