KATHMANDU: The government's recommendations for appointing ambassadors to 18 different countries have been submitted to the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC). Notably, Shankar Sharma has been re-nominated as the ambassador to India despite his previous recall by the former government. The list was received by the committee on Sunday, with recommendations made on July 30.
Among the notable nominees are CPN-UML Standing Committee member Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe for South Korea, former chief secretary Lokdarshan Regmi for the US, and former secretary Chandra Ghimire for the UK. Krishna Prasad Oli is proposed for China, and Dr. Netra Prasad Timsina for Malaysia. Other key recommendations include Naresh Bikram Dhakal for Saudi Arabia, Dhan Prasad Pandit for Israel, and Kapil Shrestha for South Africa.
Additional recommended ambassadors include Dr. Shail Rupakheti for Germany, Kanta Rijal for Australia, and Sanil Nepal for Spain. The list also includes Ramakrishna Bhattarai for Sri Lanka, Prakash Mani Paudel for Portugal, Rita Dhital for Pakistan, Sumnima Tuladhar for Denmark, and Jangab Chauhan for Russia. The final appointments will be made by the President following the PHC's approval.
