228 dead, 25 missing in Nepal's floods and landslides as rescue efforts intensify

KATHMANDU: Rain-induced landslides and floods in Nepal have resulted in 228 fatalities, 25 unaccounted-for deaths, and 158 injuries. As a result of the natural disaster, several places have seen extensive destruction.


13,071 people have been removed from the affected regions, according to Home Ministry spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari. In order to assist those in need, relief measures and ongoing search and rescue have been put into place.


The affected villages are receiving active distributions of food and other relief materials from the authorities. People who have been hurt are receiving free medical attention as part of the emergency response efforts.


The administration has given rescue and relief efforts a top priority, stressed spokeswoman Tiwari. In order to provide access to transportation and connectivity again, authorities are also attempting to clear blocked highways.
