KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology is preparing to change the regulations for distributing sanitary pads to female students in community schools.
Previously, the government has been allocating funds to provide free sanitary pads to girls in public schools through local authorities. However, recent complaints from various organizations and media outlets have highlighted concerns regarding the quality of the provided sanitary pads.
To address these issues, the ministry convened discussions on Thursday to solicit input from stakeholders and experts regarding the proposed revisions to the existing procedures.
Minister Sumana Shrestha affirmed that the revised protocols would incorporate suggestions from stakeholders, aiming to ensure the provision of high-quality sanitary products. Additionally, she emphasized the prioritization of environmentally friendly products in the revised procedures.
