KATHMANDU: Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, who has been detained in Dhanusha police custody for seven days on citizenship fraud charges, is slated to be transferred to Kathmandu for medical treatment. According to a doctor at Kavya Hospital in Janakpurdham, Sirohiya's health deteriorated during his time in custody, necessitating medical attention in the capital. The doctor noted that Sirohiya had been receiving regular treatment in Kathmandu and advised that he be taken there for further care due to his health condition, which includes high blood pressure and heart rhythm issues.

Discussions are underway at the District Police Office to facilitate the necessary legal consultations regarding Sirohiya's transfer to Kathmandu. The decision will be made in consultation with the government attorney, and preparations are being made to transport him to the capital by helicopter. The Dhanusha District Court, which extended his custody for the third time on Monday, also ordered that he receive medical treatment if necessary.

The court's directive underscores Sirohiya's right to medical care and grants permission for his transfer to a well-equipped facility in Kathmandu. Consequently, doctors at Kavya Hospital have recommended his transfer to the capital for treatment. Sirohiya was brought before the Dhanusha District Court on Monday in an ambulance from Kavya Hospital, where he has been receiving treatment following his arrest last Tuesday.

Since his detention, Sirohiya has been held in police custody and subsequently admitted to a Janakpur hospital due to health issues. The extension of his custody for a further three days by the court highlights the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding his case and the importance of ensuring his access to necessary medical treatment.
