KATHMANDU: The Ministries of Education, Science and Technology, and Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to encourage learning by earning in students of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). The MoU focuses on the practices of CTEVT students in better skills through hands-on projects run by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation.
The MoU requires CTEVT students to engage in apprenticeship programs inside projects supervised by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. The idea is to give hands-on learning experiences to enhance classroom instruction.
Ministers of Education, Science, and Technology Sumana Shrestha and Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Shakti Bahadur Basnet formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding. In order to keep young people in the nation by providing them with worthwhile job possibilities, Minister Shrestha underlined the significance of matching education to labor demands.
Basnet said that the MoU was signed with the objective to help in building a skilled labor culture towards practical work learning, where students are involved in real work settings. He defined the MoU as a good milestone in actually linking the CTEVT students directly to the labor market.
Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), expressed optimism that successful implementation of the MoU would expand such beneficial practices. He cited positive feedback on interns engaged in various NEA projects as evidence of the program's effectiveness.
According to the agreement, the Ministry of Education will develop a curriculum relevant to the industry's needs, while the Ministry of Energy will provide necessary economic support in accordance with existing regulations governing CTEVT initiatives.
