KATHMANDU: Over 10,000 people attended "Tech X 2024," an exhibition highlighting advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and cybersecurity, organized by Softwarica College of IT and E-commerce. The event took place from July 30 to August 4 at the college's Dillibazar campus, attracting students, professors, politicians, and IT stakeholders.
The exhibition featured projects by second and third-year students, drawing notable attendees such as Nepali Congress General Secretary and MP Gagan Kumar Thapa, Rastriya Swatantra Party MPs Hari Dhakal, and Remash Kharel, the former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police. Students from higher secondary levels and IT entrepreneurs also participated in the event.
The college director, Amrit Thapa, expressed delight with the event's performance, citing the huge turnout and participation of politicians and tech aficionados. He explained, "The display was aimed at persons interested in IT and potential students. We are encouraged by the widespread engagement and support."
The "Robo Mania" competition featured intense robot battles, with Xar securing first place, Destructor in second, and Botminds in third, winning Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 10,000, respectively. Projects on display included a robotic dog, an AI assistant for library and airport management, semi-automated warehouse technology, and a robot focused on password cracking. The event aimed to highlight revolutionary IT changes while emphasizing the need for IT education in building practical life skills.
