KATHMANDU: Bharatpur Metropolitan City (BMC) has awarded full scholarships to 266 students pursuing Grade 11 in institutional schools. The recipients were selected through an online application process in accordance with the Education Act and Scholarship Management Procedure of BMC. Mayor Renu Dahal emphasized that the scholarships were distributed based on students' abilities and qualifications, showcasing the city's commitment to educational advancement.
The goal of the new facility is to raise the standard of instruction and make education accessible to all, with a particular emphasis on government schools to make them more competitive. Scholarships provide support for students from diverse backgrounds, especially marginalized and minority communities.
Chief of the Educational Administration Division, Subhash Chandra Acharya, highlighted that the policy encourages merit-based students to continue their studies. The scholarships were distributed across 30 institutional schools and cover a diverse group of students, including those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, indigenous and Dalit communities, individuals with disabilities, and families of martyrs or those injured in the people’s movement.
BMC has a tradition of distributing scholarships annually, with 274 students receiving similar support last year. This year's initiative continues to reinforce the city's dedication to improving educational opportunities and supporting students from various sectors of society.
