KATHMANDU: A woman was killed in Sundarijal, Gokarneshwar Municipality-1, on Saturday, and Santosh Ram Mahara, 24, and Rambinay Mahara, 40, of Sarlahi, were taken into jail in Basundhara, Kathmandu. The woman was arrested after her body was discovered on Thursday, stuck between rocks.
Ram Dulari, the victim, was a worker from Siraha who had been living in Basundhara, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-3. Her family has not yet contacted the police, and her death was discovered in strange circumstances.
Initial investigations point to a potential love affair-related personal conflict as the driving force behind the murder, as reported by Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaraj Adhikari of the District Police Office in Kathmandu. There were rumors that Rambinay Mahara thought Ram Dulari was involved with other men and drank alcohol on a daily basis.
According to SP Adhikari, Rambinay, in collaboration with his uncle Santosh, planned and executed the murder. They lured Ram Dulari to the crime scene, where they pushed her from a height, causing severe injuries.
Following the fall, both suspects took turns striking Ram Dulari on the head with a stone, ultimately leading to her death. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
The motive behind the crime, as suggested by the preliminary investigation, centers around jealousy and suspicion related to Ram Dulari’s personal life. The case highlights the severe consequences of such disputes.
The authorities are still looking for more information in order to learn more about the incident and the suspects' possible involvement.
