KATHMANDU: In relation to the 61 kg gold smuggling case, Tharka Man Lama from Kavre has been taken into custody. The 45-year-old was apprehended by the Valley Crime Investigation Office in Lazimpat. His arrest aligns with the recommendations put forth by a commission tasked with scrutinizing the case.
Previously, a specialized commission had suggested investigations into several individuals implicated in the gold smuggling affair. Lama's detention comes as a consequence of these recommendations, as affirmed by law enforcement officials. The initial investigation into the case was conducted by the Crime Investigation Bureau (CIB).
The commission's report not only prompted Lama's arrest but also advocated for further scrutiny of officials involved in the initial probe. Presently, the investigative process is progressing into its second phase, as directed by the findings of the commission.
