KATHMANDU: Police confiscated 26 boxes of firecrackers from a truck in Kavrevanjyang, Dhulikhel Municipality, Ward 9, on Saturday evening. The truck (Na 5 Kha 7179) was intercepted during a routine check along the BP highway while traveling from Siraha to Kathmandu.
The District Police Office's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rajkumar Shrestha, said that the vehicle had a number of firecrackers that looked like they were meant for the approaching festivals.
The truck driver was able to escape the scene, leaving the contraband load behind.
In order to determine who is at fault and stop the unauthorized distribution of firecrackers, authorities are still looking into the incident.
