KATHMANDU: A fire that broke out in the Shankhamul area of Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon resulted in significant destruction. The blaze originated in a vehicle workshop near the Dobhan bridge and quickly spread to nearby shops. Among the establishments affected were a motor garage, a betel leaf shop, a tea shop, a fish shop, and a fruit shop, as confirmed by the police.
In addition to the shops, a motorcycle garage also suffered damage from the fire, although detailed information regarding the extent of the damage is still awaited. Immediate firefighting measures were initiated with the deployment of two fire engines from Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality. Subsequently, a fire truck from Kathmandu Metropolitan City arrived at the scene to support the efforts. Local law enforcement authorities and residents also joined forces to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, the fire has now been brought completely under control.
