KATHMANDU: According to Rohit Paudel, captain of the Nepal Men's National Cricket Team, the team's batting fell below expectations within the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The Nepalese cricket team returned home today after it was eliminated in the group stage itself without a single victory. Tough competition and tough pitch conditions have been a detriment to good cricket for the Nepali team.
Though the bowling unit finally clicked, with much resilience, in Nepal during their last two rounds of the group stage against test-playing nations, it didn't have the same depth or ability to perform further up the order to support the good work that the bowlers did in an attempt to qualify for the Super Eight round.
Speaking at the press conference, Nepal captain Paudel said that the tough conditions of the pitch and underwhelming performance turned out to be a segment of the batting unit that cost them the failure to advance. Nobody comes to the field with a desire to lose, he said that every player has that zeal inside them to win.
Paudel further replied to the unflattering comments against Gulshan Jha, terming them as inappropriate and misplaced. He asked the fans not to do that because the reason behind Nepal's defeat against South Africa lay not with Jha but primarily with the overall batting performance.
