KATHMANDU: In Taplejung district, 726 individuals have recently received their national identity cards, following the initiation of the distribution process by the District Administration Office. The cards were distributed to 347 women and 379 men. Despite the preparation of 7,967 ID cards to date, there have been delays due to printing issues and the requirement for citizens to collect their cards in person.
Basanta Niraula from the registration section noted that the collection process was hampered by a low turnout of citizens, which could be attributed to limited access to administrative notices. This has led to frustration among residents who have been waiting a long time for their cards, despite having provided their personal details.
Since the fiscal year 2077/78 BS, the District Administration Office has gathered personal information from 69,598 citizens, with support from local levels to facilitate this process.
