KATHMANDU: The current weather in the country is partly to mostly cloudy in hilly areas, including Koshi and Sudurpaschim Province, and mostly clear elsewhere. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reports that local winds, westerly winds, and a low-pressure system near Bihar, India, influence this pattern.
This afternoon, the hilly parts, including the Koshi region, will see partly to mostly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear. Certain parts of the Koshi region could see light rain along with thunder and lightning. Tonight, Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will experience partly to mostly cloudy conditions, with clear skies in other regions. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in these provinces and in a few places in the hilly regions of Lumbini.
Over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is forecasted for some areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two locations in the hilly parts of Lumbini. Meanwhile, temperatures in the Kathmandu Valley are on the rise, with today's maximum expected to be between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius. The temperature rose from 28.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday to 33.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
